Eneca
The robot games started in Brazil in 2001 but only in 2002 the competition joined the ENECA (National Encounter of Control and Automation Engineering Students).
This first event took place inside of Unicamp (Campinas State University).
In 2003, the third ENECA took place at UNIFEI (Federal University of Itajubá) and there was 1500 spectators watching the competition between POLI-USP, ITA, Unicamp, EFEI and PUC-Rio.
The following year the event took place at UFOP (Federal University of Ouro Preto), this time with 1000 spectators and 16 competing teams.
In 2005 the event took place at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina) in Florianópolis and 2000 spectators watched 26 competing teams.
In 2006 the event took place at PUC-PR (The Catholic University of Paraná), where 2000 spectators watched 20 teams fighting.
In 2007 the event took place in Recife at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and this year ThundeRatz team got the third place in the competition.
In 2009 the event took place in Joiville - SC, when the team won third place in the Hockey competition.
Winter Challenge
This event usually takes place in a small city in the countryside of São Paulo state.
In 2005 it took place in Campos do Jordão and 20 teams competed. In this event the battles happened on an ice-rink.
In 2006 and 2007 the event took place in Amparo, again with about 20 teams.
In 2008 the team took the third place in the RobotHockey category (see Categories). In the battle category the team's main robot got the fourth place.
In 2009 the team took second place in the RobotHockey category with robots constructed using fiberglass.
The 2010 Competition took place in Campos do Jordão, when the team achieved great results, including two podiums: second place with the follow line robot
(Follower) and third place in the RobotHockey category. In addition, also managed to get forth place with Lenhador (in the Middleweight category) and sixth place with Hypnos in the Featherweight.
Categories
In the competitions, there are three different categories:
- Combat: In this category, robots try to inflict the most damages
to the opponents. The subcategories are:- MiddleWeight: robots weight until 55Kg;
- FatherWeight: robots weight until 13,6kg;
- HobbyWeight: robots weight until 5,5kg.
- Hockey: In this category a team with three robots is supposed to play hockey
against another team. The winning team is the one to score the more goals. - Line Follower: competition in which autonomous robots must follow a path
determined by a line. The winner is the robot that finishes the path with the shortest time. - Sumo: The robot has to push the opponent out of a small area, like real-life
sumo. Three subcategories:- Normal sumo;
- Autonomous sumo;
- Lego sumo.
